Right conduct cannot be praciiced in absence ol right faith
In absence of right faith
With form or formless
अमुत्तभावा वि य होइ निच्चं
Formless realities like soul etc. cannot be apprehended by senses and those which are formless are eternal
Complete on time
न पच्छा परितप्पए
Those who are able to finish their work on time, they do not regret later
Wisdom and good conduct
सीलवंता बहुस्सुया
Wise man and man of good conduct are never afraid until death
Manner of speech
पुट्ठो, वा नालियं वए
Without being asked nothing should be spoken, and even when asked, untruth should not be spoken
Karma influx (asrava), stopping (samvara)
How can an ignorant understand stopping of karma (Samvara) without knowing its influx (asrava)
The Obstinate Pony
Do not expect repeated instructions from the Guru for fulfilling your duties like an obstinate pony who requires repeated beating
Cannot be free of bondage
One who neglects guru can never get liberated
Ask and then take
Anything must be taken with permission only
Humility towards Guru
तस्संतिए वेणइयं पउंजे
From whomsoever one would have learnt religious lessons (pada); towards them, he should behave humbly
