विणए ठविज्ज अप्पाणं, इच्छंतो हियमप्पणो
One who were sitting in a bull-cart or horse-cart, how much ever he may try to keep his body stable, his body would remain shaky. Worldly beings get human birth by getting purer
Live Humbly
अदीणमणसो चरे
Live with Modesty
In absence of right faith
नत्थि चरित्तं सम्मत्तविहूणं
Right conduct cannot be praciiced in absence ol right faith
With form or formless
नो इन्दियग्गेज्झ अमुत्तभावा,
अमुत्तभावा वि य होइ निच्चं
अमुत्तभावा वि य होइ निच्चं
Formless realities like soul etc. cannot be apprehended by senses and those which are formless are eternal
Wisdom and good conduct
न संतसंति मरणंते,
सीलवंता बहुस्सुया
सीलवंता बहुस्सुया
Wise man and man of good conduct are never afraid until death
Manner of speech
नापुट्ठो वागरे किं चि,
पुट्ठो, वा नालियं वए
पुट्ठो, वा नालियं वए
Without being asked nothing should be spoken, and even when asked, untruth should not be spoken
The Obstinate Pony
मा गलियस्सेव कसं, वयणमिच्छे पुणो पुणो
Do not expect repeated instructions from the Guru for fulfilling your duties like an obstinate pony who requires repeated beating
Rest on the way
संसयं खलु सो कुणइ
जो मग्गे कुणई घरं
जो मग्गे कुणई घरं
He only doubts the devotion who wants to rest on the path
Happy and unhappy
खणमित्तसुक्खा बहुकालदुक्खा
Sense gratifications provide momentary pleasures but yield pain for long time
