Pure, free and forbearing

Hearts of Sadhus are as pure as the water of a river in autumn. Like the bird, they are free of bondage and like the earth, they endure all pleasures and pain with equanimity

During rainy days, the color of the water of the river, which looks like the color of tea or coffee because of mud mixing, becomes pure in autumn. Sadhus hearts are also pure like that. They are without the dirt of passions. Continue reading “Pure, free and forbearing” »

Speak not what is not liked

Speak not what is not liked

Speak not that, which conveys disregard

Mother and God may be addresses as thou but all the rest must be addressed as Sir or Madam. These words convey regard. While conversing or writing letters, we should always use words that convey respect. If we use words of respect and regard for others, they will also address us similarly and show respect to us. Do not get stuck in the mire

Do not get stuck in the mire

Age is depleting

Age is depleting

As the hawk kills the quail in one stroke, so also after completion of age, death takes away life

The entire world is the food of death. A little is in its mouth, a little in its lap and a little in its palms. One day his death is imminent whose age is remaining, still not completed, though he may live. Those who are born in this world surely die, some before and some after – this is the only difference. Desire for desires

Desire for desires

Looking for gratification, an aspirant should not desire for fulfillment of desires. He should think of them as unavailable even if they were available, and neglect those, which are available.
