Temptation leads to repentance
On the day of the picnic, Mahesh woke up early and filled his bag with bread, biscuits, chocolates, popcorn etc. In the zoo, all the students were enjoying themselves. They were going near the cages of all the animals and offering them food. As Mahesh along with his sister, Vinita, passed near the cage of the monkey.
He held a piece of bread in his hand and offered it to a monkey. As soon as the monkey put its hand out of the cage to take the bread, Mahesh pulled his hand back. He did this a few times and each time the monkey would grind his teeth in frustration. Mahesh and Vinita enjoyed troubling the monkey and continued teasing him. The picnic got over and all the students returned home.
One day Mahesh brought a lollipop home. His younger sister said, “Bhaiya, I also want to eat a lollipop. Please buy one for me.” As their parents were not present at home he ignored his sister’s request and teased her in the same way he made fun of the monkey.
After a week, Mahesh along with his family attended a party. All the children were enjoying and eating their favourite food. Mahesh wanted to eat ice cream and stood in the long queue at the ice-cream counter.
As soon as his turn came the ice cream got over. Seeing everyone eat the ice cream, Mahesh too longed for ice cream. He thought, “I am so sad while all the others are happily enjoying the ice cream. I teased the monkey for a piece of bread during the picnic and my innocent sister at home for a lollipop. My sister cried for the lollipop while I ate the whole lollipop. Oh! What a mistake I made. I found pleasure in others sufferings. Now I am repenting for what I have done. I will never be mean and rude to anyone from now onwards.”
“God says not only humans but even animals should not be made to suffer hunger. You should not take pleasure in others’ suffering; otherwise you will suffer like Mahesh. Now remember, AS YOU SOW, SO SHALL YOU REAP.”
it’s good as bedtime story.
