Vigilant or Unvigilant

सव्वओ पमत्तस्स भयं,
सव्वओ अप्पमत्तस्स नत्थि भयं

Unvigilant is afraid everywhere; vigilant is not afraid anywhere

Who is fearful? One who breaks the rules, makes mistakes, commits crime, he is only afraid of all. Against this, one who follows the rules, is ever vigilant at every step that he is not involved in any crime; he is fearless – he is not afraid at all from anyone, anywhere. Doubt not

वितिगिच्छासमावेणं अप्पाणेणं
नो लहइ समाहिं

Doubtful can never get liberated

An aspirant before starting his meditation listens to the guru. From that, he gets interest in the scriptures. Then, studying the scriptures on his own, he selects a path, understands the best way of life, considers the pros and cons, and after thinking firms up his faith and then starts on his journey. Impatience

आतुरा परितावेंति

Impatient gives sorrow

Impatient or sensual or sense-gratifiers trouble others; make them suffer. Selfish people are indiscreet. They do not differentiate between what ought to be done and what ought not to be done. For there little pleasure they do not hesitate to give lot of trouble to others. For their temporary pleasures, their tendency to inflict permanent afflictions knows no bounds. One who is sleeping, he should get awakened. One who has awakened, he should rise i.e. he should leave the bed and rise and one who has risen he should not be lethargic i.e. he should standup and start walking on the path of attainment of his goal – path of righteousness. Speech is of two kinds – harsh and mild. In angry and cruel mood, it is crude; and mild when one is humble and quiet. Speech of kindness, compassion, sympathy, love, relations, affection, and deceit is mild. Against this, speech of cruelty, aversion, anger, haughtiness is discordant. All love life, no one wants to die

Who is the one, who does not want to live? Everyone loves his own life. How valuable is human life is known when he is asked to choose in between the two choices – at one place his death is kept along with millions of gold coins and on the other side his life is kept along with little money.
